About the event

With dangerous attacks such as phishing and ransomware crippling small businesses, many are looking for affordable methods to improve their likely substandard cybersecurity postures. Furthermore, many insurance companies require small businesses to demonstrate cybersecurity due diligence before issuing cyber or even general liability insurance policies.

During this webinar, we’ll share our methodology for reducing cybersecurity risk within a small business environment. This methodology, derived from recommendations by leading security organizations, outlines ten simple (and affordable) steps to building a resilient cybersecurity program tailored to small business resource constraints. You will learn about recent cybersecurity trends and what you must do to protect your business.

Instructor:  NATHAN CROSS, Totem Technologies Nathan is a Cybersecurity Engineer at Totem Technologies, a small business prime U.S. Air Force contractor. He is also a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, where he is pursuing his Master’s in Information Security Policy & Management. He specializes in small business cybersecurity, particularly within the Defense Industrial Base, where he has experience assisting DoD contractors in meeting CMMC requirements. He is the lead instructor for a quarterly Small Business Cybersecurity Essentials workshop hosted by Totem Technologies, and he has presented on small business cybersecurity at multiple conferences, including the 2023 America’s SBDC Annual Conference and the Three Rivers Information Security Symposium. Nathan is passionate about helping small businesses reduce cybersecurity risk in a cost-effective manner.
